On Being Personal And Saying Who You Are
You are now micro blogging with Twitter in just 140 characters per message. For your first 140 character note to those you follow or to those who follow you, be friendly and maybe compliment their website and ask a question about their business. You will get a "tweet" back. Many people just put a link up to see what they offer. It's nice to ask a question to engage your follower and also, when someone asks you what your passion or business focus is, just learn to say it in 140 characters instead of a link to your site or blog. You should always know how to describe yourself ( give a defining statement) in one sentence anyway for other in-person networking.
I know twitter is a place for instant messaging to your "followers." And, you need to be personal. But, for me, my purpose is to both learn from gurus on it, and share my own wisdom on book writing and marketing, especially article marketing and now social networking. When you post an update, everyone on your list will see it. So, the bigger the list, the more eyes on YOU.
My attitude: I'm really not looking to discuss what I had for dinner, so I write blurbs more business related. It's a balance act here at twitter. A few personal favorite quotes or even advice, then an announcement of a tip or article link to get them to know you and show them you are the industry leader in your niche.
After a few weeks, I delegated this task to my virtual assistant (VA). I gave her files of the kind of updates I wanted to post. I organized these for each month, although you can use many of them over and over each day you tweet.
