Your Beliefs about How to Write an eBook – True or False?

When I offered a survey to my subscribers at www.bookcoaching.com, I asked…

“What 3 things hold you back from writing your ebook now?”

The answers varied, but most included these confusions:

“My book won’t measure up to what my peers write.”

“My audience won’t buy it – it’s too xxx, xxx, or xxx.”

“My writing is too plain and I don’t know how to improve it.”

Remind your Self of the Benefits of Writing an eBook

  • Set yourself apart from others, gain respect and popularity.
  • Brand yourself, get much higher visibility and credibility.
  • Create multiple streams of income such as an eCourse, a service you offer, MP3 audios, webinars, and more.
  • Monetize your blog and social media that work together so well to sell a lot of books to your audience.
  • Repurpose your blog into a book with proper hooks and segways that engage your audience from page 1 to the end.
  • Make easy 50% sales by offering your ebooks and ePackages in your affiliate program.
  • Spread the good word – getting your message out to make the world a better place.

How Long Should your eBook Be? 4 Answers

I get this question often as a book coach, so I decided to let your know my 2 cents.

There’s no hard and fast rule on what length an ebook should be, but from my 12 years as a book coach online, I know these ideas will help you decide.

Decide Which Number is Best for your eBook’s Purpose!

#1. A 10-20 page eBook is a good length if your purpose is to use it as a bonus to web visitors when they opt-in and subscribe to your site or ezine.

We call it an “ethical bribe.” This book can also be sold as a leader on Kindle for 99 cents or $2.99, depending on its specific help to the readers. General titles don’t usually sell as well as specific ones. Within these low cost or no cost ebooks, you need to add some powerful promo that leads the reader to check out your print books and other packages and services.

10 Questions to Test your eBook’s Significance

Over the years perfectly competent people with unique information to share in a book have come to me, so afraid their book isn’t good enough, their peers will judge it as poor, or they won’t be able to get it out to their audience.

You can test your book’s significance by asking these questions…

1. Is it filled with action if fiction? Is it exciting?
2. Is it fun to read? Have humor?
3. Does it teach the readers something new or interesting? (educate)
4. Does it present useful, original and unique information?
5. Does it have potential to positively affect the reader’s life?
6. Is the message said in a unique way? Does it brand you or your business?
7. Does it answer an age-old question such as the meaning of life?
8. Does it create a deeper understanding of human nature?
9. Does it give skills and information to help individuals?
10. Will the particular audience want or need its information?

Of these 10 significance tests, it takes only…

*One for an article or blog post.
*Two for a book.
*Three for a top seller.
*Five for a Pulitzer Prize.
*Six for a literary classic.

These are just some ways for you to build your confidence and courage to share your word with your world. So be encouraged and start writing!

Do you have any questions? Be sure to ask them here. Leave me a comment and I will answer.

Judy Cullins Answers eBook Questions

Each month I get a lot of questions from aspiring authors. Here’s a few on self publishing, ISBN #’s, and copyright information. Yes, you can always Google for answers too.

1) Can you supply me with a suggested web address to obtain an ISBN number?

Judy: Just Google ISBN and get it.

2) Will I need a different number for each of my ten ebooks?

Judy: depends on where your sell them. At your site, don’t need them. At other sites, you do need them. And yes, one for each book.

3) Do you have a suggested web address for copywriting the ebooks?

Judy: Google United States Copyright Office and find the short form TX. They didn’t include their website on my paper work.

4) Do you have anything I can buy from you that will give me ebook publishing steps?

Judy: Did you buy Write your eBook or Other Short Book Fast yet? It has all your answers in it.

I advise you publish them yourself. It’s simple to do for print or eBooks. If you want more from me, I suggest you get a 30 minute session from me to finish your project. Ask any question for self-pub, or promotion.

Do you have a pressing question about your book project? Ask away! :)

What makes one eBook Stand out From Another?

One question I ask potential book writers, “Why write a book if no one reads it and it doesn’t sell?” Writing a quality eBook or print book is so important. It shouldn’t just be notes from a group of articles or blog entries, although you can use this info in your book if you know the right transitions.

Here’s my pre-marketing check and correct list.

Know your book’s 9 essential hot selling points (pre-marketing strategies) excerpted from my book, “Write your eBook or Other Short Book Fast!” before you write or publish your book. Here’s 4 to get you started:

#1 Make sure your title is the best one for your audience. A dull title that makes no promise to your reader will probably not sell. An outstanding title can sell 25% more books for you.

Why Write and Market an eBook – 7 Reasons

You’ve been thinking about writing an eBook. Maybe you already have one, but aren’t sure it will sell well or show you as an expert in your field. Maybe you’re thinking an eBook is not as accepted as a traditionally published book. But, you have ideas, a lot of them. And, if you can focus on one really useful, compelling book, writing an eBook is just the ticket.

So Many Benefits you May Not Know Yet

Whether you’re in business or a non-fiction writer, you can write an eBook in a lot less time than you think–even in two months.
My last book in July -2010 on Linkedin Marketing took me only 2 months of part time writing, applying all of my tried and true strategies of book writing and my own LI success.

After reading and realizing these eBook benefits, you too may decide to join the 5% club. That’s the percentage of book writers who make their book a financial and emotional success.

Writing an eBook for Your Target Audience to Make More Sales

You may have only written print books. You may already have written an eBook or two. And you may not have known these hot-selling tips and therefore, made your book less successful.

Book Tip 1. Write a short ebook first. Your online audience on blogs, Linkedin, Twitter and other social media wants concise information to solve their problems. Gone are the days of the 260-page book to show you as the expert. Business people don’t want to read long books. Think 50-100 pages if you want to sell it. People will gladly print up to 100 pages. Think 20 pages if you want to give it away as a bonus for your site or newsletter subscription.

Your specific audience is busy like you and wants tips and how to’s that help them overcome their problem or challenge. They don’t need long stories or analogies.

Write That eBook Inside You – Avoid These Mistakes

Did you know that you already have an ebook inside you?

And you can earn thousands of dollars each month?

Even if you are a low-techie like me, you can write your ebook to solve your readers’ problems or give them information they really want. You can get information to go into your eBook from many sources. Think of other articles, blog posts, and reports already in your files. Think of excerpts from a longer book.

If you want to double and triple your present ebook income, check out these mistakes and correct them now.

Mistake 1. You don’t write a short ebook first to test the waters.

Short is in the eyes of the beholder, but let’s say from 15-90 pages. Your future customers will be glad to download these pages and print only the ones they need to.

===Q. DO I NEED MY OWN BOOK SELLING WEB SITE?

One new client asked this question. Her Amazon sales so low, as were her own site’s sales, that she realized she needed to create a new URL for her Romance Book website, using the title as part of the name of the site.

Also, her new site would have the advantage of collecting her unique visitors’ emails (opt-ins) so she can stay in touch and promote on a regular schedule such as 1X each two weeks.

====FEATURE– DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR BOOK BRANDS YOUR BUSINESS?

Branding is a marketing concept that’s been around for decades.
Think of Donald Trump whose name is his brand. When you buy his books, you’ll know that HE is the brand.  Your business may be smaller, but can get a big boost when your write a book that educates your audience on your service and its benefits. Your quality eBook or print book will attract them to your business Web site and also sell books.

Why Bother Creating an eBook?

Did you see this eBook news in the media like I did? The new number of eBook sales looks promising for all of us who are in business and need visibility and credibility for that.

In 2008, eBook sales were $150 million. And the forecast for 2010 is $2Billion sales.

Who doesn’t want to create wealth and income with the least amount of effort? Who of you in business doesn’t want to create yourself as a top expert in your field?

As a long time book coach, who has authored over 20 eBooks that bring in regular income each month, and clients who want guidance to bring out their best, the one answer that I’ve known and recommended for over 11 years, is to

Write a Short, Quality eBook

Short means between 20 pages and 110 pages. It’s far easier to create a short book than a long print book that busy professionals don’t have time to read.
