This is one of many blog posts I will share with businesses on profile changes you can make to get to the top of the pages when people search for your expertise or book.
My own results are amazing in just weeks from my continuous LinkedIn profile makeovers. Just put a few of these in the LinkedIn search bar and see that I’m either #1 or #2 in front of many experts or at least on the first page.
Try:
You can do what I did and am doing what many experts aren’t on top of.
This blog focuses on your LI sections. Do you really want your college degrees near the top? Your profile order depends on what you want your audience to know about you now, and what you can do for them. Placement is all powerful.
Mine include two great testimonials and reasons (benefits) to check out my site for coaching. This is my 6th update so far.
Are your recommendations old? Then your profile is static. What to do? Each month ask for recommendations in a way that makes it easy for busy professionals to give them in a few minutes. Like me, you can use them at the top of blog posts, in your product sales letters, and your pages that also have sales letters.
An example from one mentor, Kathleen Gage:
”Judy is by far one of the most knowledgeable experts on book marketing. Her information is solid, usable and easy to apply. I can highly recommend Judy’s information for accuracy, timeliness and usability. A true consummate professional.”
Talk about direct marketing. My books include, Write your eBook or Other Short Book Fast, 10 Non Techie Ways to Market your Book Online, LinkedIn Marketing: 8 Best Tactics to Build your Book and Business Sales, Advanced Article Marketing Package, and 20 High Octane Book Writing, Publishing and Marketing Tips.
We will soon add the MP3 audios of my different social media coaching and book coaching. Always tweaking.
If your book is on Amazon, you can add the cover to your LinkedIn profile through the Amazon Recommended Reading List plugin. I plan to exchange my covers with my competition to get different audiences to see my books as well as theirs. Cross promotion at its best. More results for all of us.
This plugin update shows you are giving your expertise and knowledge in your particular niche or genre. It gives a sample of who you are and what you can offer your audience. My latest log is on getting started with writing a book. These change every few days and your new posts appear automatically.
Here’s a chance to put up your Promotion Profile of yourself and also your branding story if you want to be more personal. This same information is on my website at “About Judy.”
Why put this section near the top when you don’t care about networking with your alma mater? I finally completed this section because LinkedIn wanted it. I just added a San Diego college for my last one to be 100%, but it isn’t current.
When I look at most profiles, I see ‘my website,’ ‘my personal website,’ ‘my blog.’ You can definitely update these to be specific to your niche and get a lot bigger bang for your buck! See mine as an example:
I also added my Twitter information. Twitter: CoachJudy
Maybe you didn’t realize this puts you out there with more with keywords. This last month I added these and will tweak again soon.
Connecting with other high traffic businesses, bookcoaching, writing, self-publishing, blog marketing, keyword optimization, long tail keywords, SEO, search engine optimization, social media, content marketing, twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn marketing, article marketing, writing articles, ebooks, epublishing, print books, business branding, business branding with a book, NOT MLM, home based business, niche markets, social networking, Google, joint ventures, JV, consulting offers, maintaining friendships, reading novels, personal growth, world travel, and living my life and business mission assisting you who want larger success
Don’t join any old group! If you haven’t done an audience profile brainstorming with a coach or LinkedIn pro of who you want to connect with in LinkedIn, you need to do this first. This is what I coach on in my LinkedIn Marketing book.
Once you know your primary audience, you won’t waste your time on those who can help your or want you.
Add your groups if your want them visible. You can see my 50 groups in this section at my profile to give an idea. I am active on 30 each week, but check many others’ discussions every few weeks to see if I can add any value.
I’d really smile big if you commented on this blog or ask a question!
