I think what might be useful is something on PR with newspapers and radio to determine if these routes are even feasible or worthwhile for self published authors.
My non-fiction oral history of a major disaster White Death-Blizzard of '77 432 pages, 70 classic pics,$24.95 has sold tons of books since the first edition in 1978. Divided into the American and Canadian Experience with the same disaster and now in its Third 30 Anniversary Edition, I'd like to split the book in two and sell ebooks separately of each country from my website http://www.whitedeath.com.for $14.95. Does this make sense? The whole book would still be available at $24.95.
ERNO ROSSI
Erno, With today's audience wanting very concise books, I'd really edit your book to take its size down a bit and create eBooks that you can market to each targeted audience. Who is your main target audience? Other audiences? What are the benefits? These questions model what I do in my coaching phone sessions. To get a laser sharp focus takes some real thinking and brainstorming. If you are game, see my breakthrough 1/2 hour at http://www.bookcoaching.com/book-coaching.php
Clint, Thanks for your suggestion. What is your book title and its audience? I do think that PR is out of the loop these days for self-publishers who want to market their books. Or, if you write a pr, then give 6-10 tips in it for editors to see value.
Instead, write short helpful articles that relate to your book and put them on your site's blog and then, monetize your Linkedin marketing as I explain in my new book or at my upcoming group telecoaching at http://www.bookcoaching.com/social-media-marketin…
Mary, Thanks for the Stumbleupon tip. WE are actually testing this out now. I can't imaging it will bring more targeted traffic to my site than Linkedin is doing now. That's why I'm sharing these secrets I discovered about optimizing Linkedin that worked so well for me. Wonder if you learn better by teleseminar, book, or one on one help with social media marketing?

Judy, thanks for your good information and reminders of ways we can use the Internet more effectively. Someone in one of my LinkedIn Groups mentioned StumbleUpon, which, in essence, lets us recommend our Favorites, so I signed up for that free service and just gave your site their thumbs up.
